During our poetry unit, we had the privilege to collaborate with graphic design students from the University of Tennessee Knoxville. Each graphic designer set out to design forms and distribute our poems in unique ways that addressed the central message of each poem. Below you can see my poem’s design by Cook. Enjoy!

As a class we recently finished reading the Gold Cadillac by Mildred D. Taylor. This book tells the story of a Black family during the 1950’s during the civil rights movement. These diaries were written by students from the perspective of one member of this family, either ‘lois, the youngest daughter, father, or mother as the family faces discrimination, segregation, and racism.
Fixing My Bike
On a Friday evening I was finishing up my work.Then a package came it said it was from my brother 's account on ebay.So I waited when he got home from work to see if it was the clutch.
Then he said “did you get the package?”
I said “this package?”
He said “yeah that's the clutch.” So we opened it. It was like a scooter clutch it was big about 7in to 6 long.
So on Columbus Day my brother hooked it on we had to buy some screws and then it will fit. So my dad is in the picking season of cranberries now so he wasn't here to helpI. I took the old motor out myself there was a lot of grease so I had to take four screws out and cut the gas pedal line.Then you just slide the motor on the jack so the motor doesn't fall.The four wheeler body was full of grease because i used to put grease to make it run with the old motor. I put this product that takes grease out all over the four wheeler body and then I wiped it with a blue rag and then hose it down with water. Now it is ready for us to put the motor.So I put the motor myself so it was easy.So then a few days later my dad was going to check it out.
He said, “do you want to put the plate now?”
Then I said, “okay i replied
So he put the plate in place and then put the motor so he welded it.So then on Saturday my brother put the screws and put the front of the clutch.Then he measure the chain bc it was to long so we need to cut it Then he said you need to buy a master link 40% .SO i tell my dad and he said oka.SO yesterday we put it in we put the link and start it we had to put gas in the filter so it start and motor like that they LOUD. LITTARTY it was blowing out fire without the muffler it blew out FIRE NO KIDDING. we test it went.well it wasn't safe tho! So i let my dad do it.So after that we were trying to build a muffler so it safe.So after that
We started it to sound less loud so it was good.So a few days later when my dad got out of work he brought a guider home.It was heavy . It Was like 10 pounds.So it was going to lift the chain cus it was loose.SO my dad so busy at cranberries so he was coming out like 8pm 8:30pm at night.So all i do is go in the garage and just look at it and amgen like what it going to look like and how fast it going to go maybe 50mph.So on a Sunday the chain wa loose so we cut it get half link then out the gas line.So the next day we try it see how it went it went fast we just work on the seat and cover. So last night my dad came home. We just put oil and put that pipe back then i wanted to ride so we went in the church parking lot it was really fast.So the next day my mom accidently wet it went in side the calibrator so it wouldt start.Then on Saturday somehow it start I rode I went fast.At the end of the day my dad took me to my track it was bigger bc they cut the grass.Then it was sun set . so we went back to the house and I just play roblox jail break.The n su day i went to church but the there was an earthQuaket.It was weird any way I rode it alot in my track.
FIXING AND RIDING
This one time i was in my house play video games then i heard my dad so I knew he brought lunch and i said what that in your trunk. He said it you first four wheeler. This was me :0. I was so happy thing but is it didn't start,S0 we just took out the motor with a bunch of different tools, wrenches, sockets ratchets and more. So we got a 6ph motor .WE got to cut the frame so it can fit the motor so we got to get a few more stuff like a pipe that is 9 inches and a clutch and a chain connector so we try it it went slow at first but if you down a little hill it will go. so then we build a muffler do it better to ride and then put the frame so i keep riding it but the clutch got engaged so I ride again it dont wanna go so we order a new clutch but better but it only last for two weeks but it rode and then we took the clutch out and put it back in but it wouldnt start so i keep trying to start it i got loose but i started it if you start it with all the gas so then one day my father filled the clutch with PB.then it ran and then when he did the turn the thing flip:].so when we ran out of PB.We just filled it up with grease. So it can go.tHE THING SMOK THO that's the thing so we just kept riding it.ONe day i was driving it down the sidewalk and it shut off first of all it ran out of gas. so i put some start it and when I took off the clutch went out.IT was the watchet warn out! So we put a new one.So we decided to change the moter.Im still riding right now but the part is coming soon and I keep riding.
