During our poetry unit, we had the privilege to collaborate with graphic design students from the University of Tennessee Knoxville. Each graphic designer set out to design forms and distribute our poems in unique ways that addressed the central message of each poem. Below you can see my poem’s design by Matt. As a class we recently finished reading the Gold Cadillac by Mildred D. Taylor. This book tells the story of a Black family during the 1950’s during the civil rights movement. These diaries were written by students from the perspective of one member of this family, either ‘lois, the youngest daughter, father, or mother as the family faces discrimination, segregation, and racism. 

When my friend became my enemy 

I felt happy but then I felt kind of savage.Find out why.Enjoy

I like to have friends come over so we can have some fun. One day I asked my mom if friends can come over and she said “yes” so we played among us on my  phone. My name is Brandon Anthony Rivas. His name is Rocky.His nickname was John.He wanted to ask if  he can stay here for a week. My mom said yes.He likes the movie star wars and I like avengers so then he got angry.I said it is okay if we like different movies but he did not like that we have different movies so he calmed down when we played among us.

He said”I am mad that he does not like star wars. I am going to make him mad.

The next day came inside my room and he started to mess my room up when I was about to go to school! I fixed my bed again good and fast because I was going to go to school on zoom it was almost the end of school.

I said to my mom”I want to give Rocky a piece on my mind.

My mom replied yes you can give him a peace of your mind.

So I prank him with booby traps so he does not want to stay here 

no more.My first trap is slime on the floor so he can take off his shoes so then he will step on legos with his feet.

“Ow” he yelled

He yelled so hard that the whole neighborhood told us to keep it down in a not so happy voice.

Then he tried the the back door but I put a trip line on the floor so he trips to the floor he got up so he saw me upstairs so he came up stairs but a bucket hit him in the face.Then he went up stair so then he went  to my room so then I got my nerf gun bullet into his face I had good a aim.Last he went to my moms room so I threw tennis balls.So then he said to my mom if he can leave out of the house to go to his house because he did not want to stay here no more by the traps that I set up so he can leave.

He said”I can not take it any more longer”!

So my mom said he can leave if he wanted to.So my mom also did not like him because he messed up and did not say sorry.

I said “Say sorry”!

He said”No”!

He also did not want to clean up and he broke a Glass window.So his dad had to pay a new Glass window because his kid broke it so his dad has so mad at Rocky.I was happy that they were mad at him so he can get granded so I was happy that he left so he can get grounded so we smiled at him.So when I came back outside to we was his face has red.

Best Day of My Life

 My first communion I can not wait for it to be time. I want when I was 6 years old it was an epic party after Church. It was epic so many People came to my party, the best day of my life. I said to my mom this is my favorite Party ever. She said this is a party you never forget.My best friends came to my house and my first communion. Andrew said this is the best party ever. I said thanks. we Played soccer and games of parties we did the piñata and after I cut my own cake for ever people in my party it was 🍫 cake and ice cream cake too like the party. It was perfect, except if I felt like one thing was missing. I said to my mom I miss my Uncle no wondering that you are sad a little and then. I saw my uncle come out of my dad's car.I was so excited that I ran to give him a big hug .My Uncle came to El Salvador. It is the best day of my life.He said I miss you and he said what El Salvador is about. But there was one thing that I did not like. I had to were all white suit. I hate the white suit that we bought but it will do for the party. The party was at my house when it was 7/10/20. I said I miss he said me to he said and he got the Last pieces of the cake and we gave him a gift.In the gift it has a new Iphone 11 pro max so he left one week after it was hard to say Goodbye. I still miss him. I call him after class every day so you know I miss him and love him a lot because of this story.
